Vietnam to receive over 5.6 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19

Web Portal – Vietnam will receive over 5.6 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in March and April, all made by AstraZeneca, according to the National Expanded Immunisation Programme. Vietnam used this vaccine in its immunization program from March 8 in 13 provinces and cities nationwide.

Of the amount, 4,17 million doses will be supplied by COVAX Facility via the UN Children’s Fund. Meanwhile, 1.48 million doses bought by the Health Ministry via Vietnam Vaccine SJC (VNVC) will also be delivered.

After 2 days of implementing Covid-19 vaccination in a number of localities and hospitals, the National Expanded Immunization Program evaluated it as safe. Post-injection reactions are in the acceptable rates. Since this is a new vaccine, vaccinated person must follow strict health guidelines.

Vaccination sites must meet stringent standards for storing vaccines in cold chains within the range of 2-8ºC, arrangement of reception areas, waiting rooms, screening rooms, vaccination rooms, post-injection monitoring rooms, and anaphylactic shock treatment room under one-way rules; equipped with shock-proof boxes and complied with regulations on epidemic prevention and control. All vaccinated people are screened and disseminated how to monitor their health and post-vaccination reactions. When there are abnormal manifestations, they must contact the medical facility for prompt treatment.

It is known that the Dong Nai Center for Disease Control is making statistics on its number of target groups to plan Covid-19 vaccination under guidance of the Department and Ministry of Health.
