From before the Lunar New Year 2021 up to now, farmers in dozens of provinces and cities across the country have had a story of “rescue” for a variety of agricultural products from vegetables, fruits to fruits that cannot be consumed due to the covid 19 epidemic. Never before has the restructuring of agricultural production in a chain of links from farming, planting to consumption and processing is set in such an urgent way as it is today.
Recently,
grapefruit prices have been low because of abundant supply, the market has been
slow due to the effects of covid - 19 epidemic.
Agricultural products are waiting for "rescue"
The story of 'rescue' agricultural products began to appear in localities blockaded by the Covid-19 epidemic such as Hai Duong, Hanoi, causing thousands of tons of vegetables and tubers to be left in the field because there was no place to consume right before the Lunar New Year 2021. This situation continues to spread to many provinces and cities such as Dalat vegetable farmers, dragon fruit farmers, grapefruit farmers ... crying for help because they could not call for merchants to buy from before the Lunar New Year to date. Specifically, after the Lunar New Year 2021, in Xuan Tay and Xuan Dong communes (Cam My district) there are about 550 tons of peach grapefruit ripening in the garden without merchants buying.
The reason grapefruit farmers fall into the scene of crying for help is the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. However, if analyzed more carefully and clearly, the real cause of the story of grapefruit is jammed, no place of consumption is due to the fact that the area of grapefruit cultivation in the country increased rapidly, the supply is too plentiful while the consumption market plummeted. Only in Dong Nai province, the grapefruit area has grown to nearly 8.3 thousand hectares, doubling compared to the previous few years. This is also the reason why green grapefruit specialties right in the peak consumption days of the Lunar New Year 2021, the selling price in the garden is only 15 thousand VND/ kg, many times lower than every year is also difficult to find merchants to buy.

In the report of Cam My District People's Committee on supporting grapefruit farmers in the district, the long-term solution is that the District People's Committee focuses on inviting enterprises to participate in the chain of grapefruit production and consumption links, focusing on proposing investment models in processing such as making grapefruit juice. , grapefruit wine... At the same time, the locality continues to mobilize people not to expand the area of grapefruit cultivation; process production and record production diary to trace the origin of products, meeting the requirements of consuming businesses.
According to Deputy Director of The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development – Mr.Tran Lam Sinh, the long-distance story for agricultural production in a chain of links from farming, planting to consumption has been focused on implementation by Dong Nai for many years. As a result, the whole province has 16 large field projects approved with a total area of over 5.2 thousand hectares with a total expected support of nearly 70.3 billion VND. In addition, businesses and cooperatives in the province have also implemented many projects to build chains of links from production to consumption with many local key products.
