Agriculture and tourism connect

Dong Nai has just opened 2 points of display and sale of OCOP products (local specialties in One Town One Product Program) at Buu Long Tourist Area (Bien Hoa City) and Da Han Waterfall Tourist Area (Trang Bom District). The connection between the two fields of agriculture and tourism is the driving force to both create the richness and diversity of products for each field and build specific agricultural and tourism products for Dong Nai.

Mr. Tran Lam Sinh, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the One Town One Product (OCOP) is a national strategic program, promoting the development of agriculture towards creating branded products, increasing competitiveness and adapting to international economic integration. After 2 years of implementation, up to now, the program has developed, contributing to evoke the potentials and advantages of local agricultural products, and at the same time support the program of building a new rural area to come into reality.

Making good products certified by the authorities is the result of farmers' efforts. However, currently farmers are most confused about finding the output for the product. Mr. Le Van Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade advised that in awareness of difficulties of farmers, over the past time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and provincial leaders have deployed practical guidelines and policies to implement the distribution systems of OCOP products. In the last months of 2020, the Department of Industry and Trade has organized many connections for OCOP products into modern distribution systems such as trade centers, supermarkets, wholesale and traditional markets, and construction of selling points for OCOP products at tourist destinations and so forth.

 "Strengthening" farmers

Mr. Le Van Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the OCOP products of Dong Nai are now on shelves at supermarkets, commercial centers, etc. With the most favorable support policies, if the products are well received by the market, OCOP products will continue to be widely deployed in the whole system in the country. From the initial results, the deployment of 2 more points of introduction and sales of OCOP products at Buu Long and Han Da Waterfall Tourist Sites is expected to be a "boost" point for Dong Nai farmers to produce more quality products and develop the system of display points in the whole province and the whole country.

With the same point of view, Mr. Tran Dang Ninh, Chairman of the Board of Members of Buu Long Investment and Development Company Limited (Buu Long Tourist Area), Buu Long Tourist Area is ready to be the extended "arm" of the farmer, carrying the message of clean products recognized to consumers. In the future, in addition to communication for OCOP products, Buu Long Tourist Site will promote sales channels associated with tourist site products to achieve the highest sales.

Mr. Le Hoang Dung, Strategic Director, Thac Da Han - Phu Loc An Tourist Company Limited advised, Dong Nai currently has a lot of OCOP products, but the current relationship between product suppliers and buyers is still a huge gap, because producers cannot find a channel to develop, distribute and sell their products while consumers with a demand for high quality products cannot find a reliable source. Dung advised: “Many tourists to Da Han Waterfall Tourist Site wish to buy clean local agricultural products but do not know where to find them. I hope the sales point of OCOP at Han Da Waterfall Tourist Site as well as other tourist resorts will be an effective bridge for farmers to consume their products. Da Han Waterfall Tourist Site will make every effort to provide more and more quality products to consumers”.
