The working session took place on the morning of January 23, attended by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City facility project in Dong Nai was initially expected to be built in Nhon Trach district, then the Provincial People's Committee agreed to move the location to Tan Hiep commune, Long Thanh district with an area of 19.7 hectares. This facility provides training in the following majors: nursing, medicine and public health to expand the scale of human resource training in the health sector. The project implementation period is from 2019 to 2030. Currently, the land area expected to implement the project has been planned for educational land use purposes.
The current issue with this project is that it needs to be approved to adjust the investment policy. This is a centrally located project located locally so it falls under the approval authority of the Prime Minister. After approval, the next procedures will proceed. The land acquisition phase is under the province's jurisdiction.
According to Acting Chairman Vo Tan Duc, the advantage of this project is that the land planned for the project belongs to the VRG - Rubber Industry Corporation. Dong Nai has issued a written request to convert the rubber tree plantation to educational land after 2025. Therefore, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City needs to actively work with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to carry out the application, then submit to the Government for approval and proceed with further procedures. At the same time, the University needs to establish a Project Management Board to perform project management well.

The Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested Long Thanh district to update the land use planning in accordance with the orientation. At the same time, the Department of Planning and Investment was assigned to be the focal point to coordinate and support the university in preparing documents for this project.
In addition to the project to build a training facility, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City also plans to implement a project to build a practice hospital with a scale of 500 beds, an area of about 21 hectares. They also proposed the location to be in Tan Hiep commune. The practice hospital's construction will begin right after the second campus's construction is underway.
