(News Portal – Dong Nai) – Crocodile Lake of Cat Tien National Park has just been voted as the top 7 impressive eco-tourism destination in Vietnam in 2023. This is one of 5 categories in the program Top 7 Impressive Vietnam 2023 which was organized by Saigon Tiep Thi Newspaper.

The Top 7 Vietnam Impressions program is organized by Saigon Tiep Thi Newspaper from July 2023. After 6 months of implementation, from more than 200 nominations and 15 thousand votes, 35 destinations and travel experiences have been put into 5 categories, including: Top 7 unique architectural works in 2023; Top 7 unexpectedly beautiful scenes seen from the air in 2023; Top 7 tourist destinations with impressive beauty in 2023; Top 7 ecotourism destinations in 2023; Top 7 impressive travel experiences in 2023.

Cat Tien National Park with an area spanning 3 provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc and Lam Dong, surrounded by Dong Nai River. Crocodile Lake area has long been considered by tourists and scientists as the most should be visited location in Cat Tien National Park. The journey to Crocodile Lake will leave many unforgettable impressions. It is a wetland located in the south of Cat Tien National Park and is the home of freshwater crocodiles (Siamese crocodiles), a Vietnamese crocodile species that was previously thought to be extinct.

Crocodile Lake is located in the heart of Cat Tien National Park and is the second Ramsar site in Vietnam. Crocodile Lake is a name that attracts many domestic and foreign tourists. Not only because of the green scenery and airy, this place also has a much greater ecological value and biodiversity value. It is directly managed by Crocodile Lake ranger station. During the rainy season, when the water level rises, the location has an area of more than 2.5 thousand hectares. However, in the dry season, its surface is reduced to about 100-150 hectares. ​

According to information from Cat Tien National Park, Crocodile Lake is housing up to several hundred Siamese crocodiles. But perhaps few people would expect that the freshwater crocodile species that has lived here for a long time has faced the risk of extinction in the wild and today's Crocodile Lake is the result of more than 20 years of efforts from many organizations, agencies, specialized officials in coordination with forest rangers who have been diligently preserving Siamese crocodiles. Along with that is the general development of this entire wetland area of great importance, creating conditions for other animal and plant species to grow together, maintaining a balanced and stable ecosystem.

In 2005, Bau Sau was recognized as the 1,499th Ramsar site in the world and the second Ramsar site in Vietnam. It is located in an important area for various species of birds in the Southeast lowlands. In particular, this area has recorded many rare bird species, such as white-necked cranes, peacocks, jays, blue-winged ibis, white-winged geese... For many years, Cat Tien National Park has become a research site, for visiting, experiencing, and exploring forests and biodiversity by scientists and tourists, especially international tourists.

Being voted Top 7 eco-tourism destinations in 2023 shows that Crocodile Lake Area of Nam Cat Tien National Park is one of the eco-destinations highly appreciated by readers and tourists.
