Strong growing economy with abundant development opportunities

WP – That is the affirmation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Government Online Conference with localities opening on December 28. Attending this conference were General Secretary and State President, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong; National Assembly Chairwoman, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Prime Minister, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Ministers, representatives of ministries, central agencies and leaders of provinces and cities nationwide. Chairing the conference at the Dong Nai focal point was Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Cao Tien Dung.

Speaking at the conference, General Secretary and State President, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong directed that ministries, agencies and localities should not be subjective and satisfied because the target set in 2021 is very high in the context that our country still faces many difficulties, the world situation has changed complicatedly, difficult to predict since the world fell into a serious crisis in many aspects under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

By 2021, there must be more achievements and progress than 2020, the national contingent, the core of the country, the public servants, must always self-correct themselves so that they do not fall into material temptations.

The General Secretary and the State President believed that after this Conference, with a new spirit and new beliefs, the Government and localities continue to unite, dynamically and creatively strive to successfully implement the missions in 2021 and the whole term.

Also at the conference, Prime Minister, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that even though in the difficulties, the country's economy stll continues to grow strongly and has more and more development opportunities.

Particularly in 2020, under the impact of COVID-19, many countries fall into recession, Vietnam is a rare country maintaining positive growth of 2.91%, epidemics are under controlled, ensuring social security. By this point, we have achieved our dual goal of COVID-19 prevention and sustainable economic growth. The year 2020 must be considered as the most successful year of our country in the past 5 years in terms of spirit and will to rise despite of any difficulties and challenges. According to World Bank data, with an average economic growth of 6.8% per year for the 2016-2019 period, Vietnam is in the top 10 of the world's highest growing countries. Vietnam has made rapid social progress.

In 2020, Vietnam's import-export turnover will reach 543.9 billion USD, up 5.1% compared to 2019. In particular, Vietnam has a trade surplus of 19.1 billion USD. Industrial production index increased by 3.4%, social investment increased by 5.7% ...

For Dong Nai, the economy increased 4.44% over the same period, per capita income (PCI) reached 115 million VND, equivalent to 4,952 USD. Budget revenue reached 54,203.7 billion VND, reaching 102% of the estimate assigned at the beginning of the year. Export turnover is 19 billion USD, import turnover is 14.7 billion USD, Dong Nai has a trade surplus of 4.3 billion USD. Mobilization of investment and development capital reached 93,050 billion VND. The Provincial People's Committee focuses on directing the implementation and disbursement of investment capital from the budget to ensure the required progress; disbursement is expected to reach the end of January 2021, reaching 95% of the plan. Domestic investment attraction reached 29,000 billion VND, foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 1.2 billion USD. By 2020, it is estimated that there will be 4,050 newly registered enterprises, an increase of 6% over the same period. The conference will continue in the morning of December 29.
