WEB PORTAL - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Vo Van Phi had a meeting with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and other departments, sectors and localities on building a network of animal slaughterhouses until 2025 with orientation to 2030.
According to a report by the DARD, as of June 2020, the whole province has 71 slaughter establishments, down 23 establishments compared to July 2017. In particular, localities in the province have newly built 42 concentrated slaughter establishments and 29 slaughter establishments operating temporarily, waiting for relocation to concentrated establishments. The situation of smuggled slaughter is still difficult to control. According to the report on food safety inspection in the first 9 months of 2020, the whole province discovered 96 animal products trading establishments that had not passed the slaughter control.
At the meeting, the DARD proposes the Provincial People’s Committee to soon issue a network of centralized slaughterhouses and plans for centralized slaughtering to contribute to effective slaughter management and arrangement, creating conditions for organizations and individuals in production. Localities need to complete its construction and commission of all concentrated slaughterhouses. It is expected that by 2023, the whole province will have 58 slaughter establishments, down 13 establishments compared to the present. Provinces with centralized slaughterhouses already in operation have to withdraw all temporary slaughter sites and thoroughly deal with illegal slaughter.

PPC Vice Chairman Vo Van Phi determined, the construction of a network of animal slaughterhouses in Dong Nai to 2025 with a vision to 2030 in order to improve the effectiveness of State management in the field of slaughter; to ensure the production and business of slaughtering in accordance with the provisions of law, ensuring food hygiene and safety and not causing environmental pollution. The Vice Chairman also suggested that the DARD, before submitting the draft of the network of animal slaughterhouses in Dong Nai to 2025 with a vision to 2030, should be consulted by relevant departments, branches and localities in advising and proposing said draft, especially ensuring the legality when building a slaughter network; By January 2021 at the latest, the draft should be finalized and submitted to the PPC.
