South Korea wants to step up trade with Dong Nai as Covid-19 epidemic controlled.

In the afternoon of April 19, the delegation of the Consulate General of South Korea in Ho Chi Minh City, headed by Mr. Kang Myongil, the new Consul General visited and worked in Dong Nai. Mr Nguyen Phu Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and department leaders welcomed and worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, mentioned some major issues concerning the province's geographical location and socio-economic development situation. Dong Nai is in the Southern key economic zone, approximately 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, and has grown industry, trade, and services. Currently, the province has 35 industrial parks, attracting many countries and territories to invest with 1,533 valid projects with a total registered capital of 31.8 billion USD. South Korea enterprises invested in 422 projects in the province with a total registered capital of more than 6.9 billion USD and ranked first among countries and territories investing in the province. South Korea enterprises invested in the province have been highly successful in production and business.

The provincial People's Committee leader also stated that Dong Nai would have advantages from Long Thanh International Airport, a deep-water port, and regional transportation projects that are currently in operation soon. The province focuses on attracting investment in areas such as: high-tech manufacturing with few workers, industrial services, logistics, and tourism... In the agriculture sector, the province is continuing to develop advanced regions of production and the use of high technology so that the commodity can be exported.

Dong Nai also signed a memorandum with Gyeongnam province to improve the economy, culture, high-tech science and technology, and human resource training.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong, Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also said that provincial leaders are extremely interested in investors, including Korean investors and frequently direct departments to establish favorable conditions and support for enterprises. When the epidemic controlled, trade between the two countries resumes, it is important to facilitate trade between Dong Nai and Gyeongnam province.

Mr. Kang Myongil, new Consulate General of South Korea in Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciated the province's support for Korean investors doing business in Dong Nai through dialogues and business meetings. On behalf of the South Korea Government and the South Korea enterprises community in Dong Nai thanked the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for directing timely support to Korean businesses.

Mr. Kang Myongil also stated that many Korean companies want to invest in new and expanded investment in Dong Nai but hampered by the Covid-19 epidemic, so the projects have been postponed and could not be completed. “When Dong Nai and South Korea in general are under the influence of Covid-19 epidemic, Gyeongnam province in particular need comprehensive cooperation in fields such as education, health, and cultural exchanges to improve relation, in addition to economic development cooperation,” Mr. Kang Myongil said.
