Dong Nai develops strongly the area of fruit trees
According to the report of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department, there are currently over 170 thousand hectares of perennial crops in whole province, increase 188 hectares compared to the last period. In which, the area of perennial industrial crops reaches nearly 98.8 thousand hectares, the area of perennial fruit trees is nearly 70 thousand hectares. The area is mainly increased in some key fruit trees of the province like: banana, mango, durian, jackfruit, pomelo trees ...
The whole province will convert over 3 thousand hectares of rice land. Specifically, to convert to other annual crops about 680 hectares, to perennial crops nearly 865 hectares, to rice farming combined with aquaculture about 109 hectares ... Besides, the whole province will also convert 1,850 hectares of perennial crops that have not high economic efficiency like: cashew, rubber, sugarcane, coffee trees ... to fruit trees.
This conversion is based on the survey and reassessment of the quality of agricultural land, continues to review and adjust the plan of crop structure conversion, products in accordance with advantages, market needs and adaptation to local climate change. In particular, pay special attention to converting crops structure on rice land and reduce the acreage of some crops with low economic efficiency.
