Accordingly, Dong Nai is building a project on sustainable production and processing of forest products to 2025, with a vision to 2030 with many major contents such as: Develope planted forests to actively source wood materials in forest product processing; boost the export turnover of this commodity; attach importance to labor training and technological innovation to quickly and sustainably develop the wood and forest product processing industry, continue to be a key economic sector and make an important contribution to the socio-economic development. of the province.
Increase domestic raw materials
Here, the fundamental solution to develop a sustainable forest product processing industry is to ensure the source of raw materials for production. Because one of the biggest difficulties of the forest product processing industry is not being able to actively source raw materials for production. In the current situation, raw materials are increasingly scarce due to the environmental protection policy, input materials must have certificates of origin, depend on import. The import of wood materials will cause many negative effects such as: raw material prices often fluctuate, it is difficult to be proactive in the source of raw materials, the origin is not clear, the quality of imported raw materials reduces the competitiveness of the enterprises.
By the end of 2019, the whole province has nearly 47.9 thousand hectares of planted forest. The total amount of planted forest reaches 1.2 million cubic meters of wood, mainly concentrated in Long Thanh, Long Khanh, Vinh Cuu, Xuan Loc districts ... In addition, exploiting wood from rubber trees, fruit trees, perennial trees ... However, the current exploited wood output can only meet 17.6% of the processing demand and the rest is purchased from outside the province and imported about 200,000 cubic meters of wood per year.
Accordingly, the goal in the project of sustainable production and processing of forest products to 2025, with a vision to 2030 is to strive 100% of wood products exported in the province have legal origin; striving for raw materials in the province to meet at least 30% of the demand for raw materials for wood processing and forest products for export by 2025 and continue to increase to meet about 70-80% by 2030.
The project also provides a development orientation for production forest, forest seed systems to meet the set objective. In particular, it is necessary to review and evaluate the existing planted land and production forest to determine the area of forest that can be converted for large timber trading, forest area to harvest time, with favorable conditions can re-plant forest in the direction of intensive cultivation; the planted land area can be planted in the direction of intensive farming for large timber forest business. Develop large timber material plantation forests in association with processing facilities to transform existing plantation forest and afforest large-intensive timber forest. In addition, the research and selection of new varieties, testing of recognized forest plant varieties towards improving productivity, quality to meet the requirements of large timber trading and promoting the transfer of new varieties in production.

Create an environment to attract investment
Currently, the majority of enterprises and forest product processing establishments in Dong Nai with small-scale, simple equipment and have no effective measures to limit sources of impact on the environment still account for a pretty high percentage. Acordingly, the formation of concentrated production industrial parks and clusters, creating an environment for businesses and establishments to grow strongly is essential. The project is also proposed to attract about 30% of businesses to industrial zones and clusters; building 2 industrial clusters for wood and forest product processing.
Mr. Do Van Thong, Sub-Director of Southern Forest Investigation and Planning Sub-Institute, the consultant for the above project commented that Dong Nai has the advantage of being an industrial province, so the process of converting the wood processing industry from small to large scale for general processing with appropriate equipment and technology to meet product quality requirements will not face difficulties if there is the close direction of the provincial government. In order for the wood and forest product processing industry develop in a sustainable way and modernly, continue to be the key economic sector of the province, it is necessary to perform synchronous solutions such as: technological innovation; perfecting mechanisms and policies to create a legal corridor to support enterprises in production and business; have solutions for market development; financial investment, human resource training; develope supporting industries for the forest product processing industry ...
