According to Dong Nai Statistical Department, in 2020, the export turnover of computers, electronic products and components in the province reached nearly 835 million USD, up nearly 40% compared to 2019. In the first two months of the year, the export turnover of the item was over 154 million USD, an increase of nearly 2 times over the same period in 2020.

*Quick production recovery

In more than 50 export groups in Dong Nai, the computer, electronic products and components manufacturing industry has the fastest recovery through the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic. According to the Management Board of Dong Nai Industrial Parks, by the end of August 2020, enterprises in the computer, electronic products and components industry had the highest production recovery rate with 92%. And also from the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2020, enterprises in this industry have "accelerated" to compensate for the months severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. The results of the computer, electronic products and components industry have surpassed the spectacular goal. In 2020, most other groups of goods produced and exported decreased sharply, the above sectors still maintained a positive growth rate of nearly 40%.

Mr. Le Duc Vinh, Administrative and Human Resources Director of Fujitsu Computer Products of VN in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park said: "At the end of January 2021, the Covid-19 epidemic re-broke out in many provinces and cities but produce and export electronic components of the company remained stable and maintained decent growth. In order to ensure production, the company well implements the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic to minimize risks”.

The companies producing electronic components in Dong Nai are largely foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) from Japan, Korea, Taiwan. Through research in companies producing computers, electronic products and components in the province, most modern machinery lines and automation at many stages. In particular, some enterprises have applied 4.0 technology in production, so they need less labor, but the capacity and the quality are also increased, meeting many large orders in the short term of foreign partners.

Mr. Kim Byunggi, General Director of Hansol Electronics Vietnam Hochiminhcity Co., Ltd. in Amata Industrial Park (Bien Hoa city) said: "Company specializes in manufacturing, processing and assembling electronic components supplied to Samsung Group. In early 2020, the company was also affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, but the impact was not great, the beginning of the third quarter of 2020, the company has recovered and accelerated so the whole year still maintained a decent growth rate. The company has now received large orders for 2021”.

*Highest growth

Producing electronic components at Fujitsu Vietnam Computer Products Co., Ltd. at Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park

Since the beginning of this year, the computer, electronic products and components have made spectacular increases compared to many other sectors such as textiles, footwear, wood products, textile fibers,... This item group has contributed to the export turnover of the province growth fair compared to the same period in 2020. There are enterprises that have signed large contracts with domestic partners, FDI by the end of this year. Therefore, if the Covid-19 pandemic is controlled in the first quarter or the beginning of the second quarter of 2021, the computer, electrical products and components manufacturing industry will set a new record in revenue and export.

In order to meet the large orders of customers, some enterprises in the electronics sector in Dong Nai have expanded production. For example, in January 2021, Hansol Electronics Vietnam Hochiminhcity Co., Ltd invested an additional 100 million USD to build a factory in Ho Nai Industrial Park phase 2. It is expected that by the end of 2021, the factory will be completed and operated, providing the market with nearly 11 million products per year.

According to Mr. Yu Hie Min, General Director of Platel Vina Co., Ltd., after investing 2 electronic components factories in Vietnam, In early this year, the company invested an additional factory  about 30 million USD in Amata Industrial Park. The capacity of the factory is about 400 tons of products per year and mainly sold to Samsung Group.

Electronics manufactured in the province have been deeply involved in the global supply chain and are highly appreciated by multinational corporations for product quality. Therefore, more and more orders, from the end of the previous year up to now, there are many orders that have moved from abroad to Vietnam, including Dong Nai. 

Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung emphasized: "Manufacturing electronic products and components in the supporting industry should be prioritized by the province to invite investment to increase the localization rate of products. The plan for 2021, the province attracted 700 million USD to industrial parks in the province, but in January attracted nearly 230 million USD is a good signal".
