Effective from the model garden pattern combined with tourism

​Xuan Loc District is implementing a model garden model incorporating tourism in communes. This model not only helps farmers to increase revenue by transforming plant structures, renovating the garden, but also benefits by serving and selling products for visitors.

This approach also contributes to improving output for agricultural products, elevating new countryside areas models.

Farmers do tourism

In order to realize the goal of becoming a model new rural district in the direction of developing sustainable agricultural commodity production, since 2019, Xuan Loc district has piloted the construction of model gardens and model agricultural production models in Xuan Dinh commune. The model was then replicated to communes and residents responded positively.

Also from the sample garden, many farmers have developed more tourism services to meet the demand of sightseeing, learn the production experience of farmers, the need to experience the garden tourism of visitors. It is possible to mention such models as: Cocoa Garden in Suoi Cat Commune, Tam Sanh Orchards in Xuan Tam Commune, Four Seasons Flower Garden in Xuan Bac Commune, Lang Minh Village Strawberry Garden, Sunflower Garden in Xuan Phu Commune...

Director of Cocoa Cooperative Suoi Cat commune Truong Van My shared that in 2010, he started planting cocoa trees. Due to lack of funds, lack of knowledge of caring for plants and planting cashew trees, pests and diseases, low productivity. He took several training courses that combined research materials and embarked on renovating the garden. Through a friend, he connected to sell cocoa beans to Marou Chocolate Co., Ltd in Ho Chi Minh City.

Before the strict requirements of partners on size, model, quality, Mr. America moved to care, harvest, preliminary processing according to the clean process. The economic effect is clear, Mr. My lobbied more households to grow cocoa, and at the same time set up cooperatives. Cocoa beans are not consumed, Mr. My cooperated with Bamboo Capital Joint Stock Company (HCMC) to sell fresh fruit. In 2020, Mr. My simultaneously opened cocoa garden tourism services and processing trials. After many failures, Mr. My has produced 5 products, of which 2 products are chocolate, cocoa powder certified 3 stars OCOP (One product per commune program).

Currently, Mr. My's cocoa garden is not only a place of production, learning experience, interesting tourist experience, but also a place to sell and promote the processed products of the cooperative.

Another model of agriculture - tourism combination is the Four Seasons Flower Garden in Xuan Bac Commune. Mr. Van Thanh Than, the owner of the flower garden shared that he had only planted flowers for Tet. Later, he noticed the needs of people and tourists all year round, so he decided to plant a variety of flowers combined with tourism.

“At this time, my workers are actively taking care of, posing and designing small scenes to serve visitors for Tet holiday" - Mr. Doan shared and added that visitors to the garden varied from students, students, couples to take wedding photos to unions, farmers' associations in and outside the province. Visitors to the garden outside pay a fee to visit, take pictures and buy flowers to take home.

Elevating the new model countryside

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Xuan Loc district Le Thi Hiep said that the process of building a model new rural district in the direction of developing sustainable agricultural commodity production Xuan Loc has formed: a concentrated agricultural production area. , agricultural models applying high technology, clean production models, model gardens combined with ecotourism ... initially attracted the attention of processing enterprises, purchasing units and the community.

The sample gardens are designed and planted according to the plan, have walkways, have fences around... Farmers are more interested in how watering and fertilizing are effective, safe; concerned about environmental hygiene and “health" of orchards. In particular, from model garden models, many households have creative ways, harnessing the strengths of garden to develop tourism or invest in science and technology, applying new varieties of plants and pets to gradually improve economic value.

In this way, the local will select some garden samples to assess the effectiveness of farmers, agriculture and social sectors, thereby supporting investment in infrastructure, services, supporting farmers to register OCOP products to serve the development of garden ecotourism and stabilize output. At the same time, communes and agricultural sectors have increased the introduction and promotion to help farmers both produce and trade tourism as well as replicate the model garden model combining tourism effectively.

Here, the cooperative will improve the processing process so that visitors can experience the actual every stage, invest more essential infrastructure for visitors to visit, rest in the garden. Currently, operatives are also exploiting social media channels to promote the model.

In agreement with this opinion, the owner of Tam Sang orchard said that the model garden model brings many benefits to the family, besides landscaping, neat garden, clean, more beautiful, income from garden is also improved. Therefore, he will replan the fruit garden to combine tree planting and tourism development.
