Recently, Standing Provincial Party Committee chaired by Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Provincial Party secretary, Chairman of the People's Council has a meeting with leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, agencies and localities to discuss a report on the implementation of the Politburo's Resolution 08-NQ / TW (NQ08) on tourism development as a key economic sector. Attending the meeting were Mr. Ho Thanh Son - Deputy Secretary of the Standing Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Cao Tien Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In the last 4 years, since the Central Resolution 08 was issued, Dong Nai has successfully cooperated with Ministries and central agencies to promote the implementation of national transport infrastructure projects in the province. Many other national highways and provincial roads are invested in upgrading, expanding and building new. Dong Nai province has invested in tourism infrastructure, especially roads into tourist areas that both facilitate people and invite, attract investors; The Provincial People's Committee has issued 5 decisions on investment guidelines with a total investment capital of 1,445 billion VND. The projects' investment goals include eco-tourism, resorts, hotels, and tourist urban areas. Dong Nai tourisms are increasingly investing in improving service quality and tourism technological facilities, essentially meeting the needs of entertainment and resorts of visitors from inside and outside the province, as well as experts living and working in Dong Nai.
Accordingly, the results achieved in the last 4 years are very impressive; specifically, between 2017 and 2019, the average growth rate of tourists reached 12.6%, and tourism service revenue reached 15.4%. Dong Nai tourism welcomed 4.4 million visitors in 2019, tourism service revenue totaling 1607 billion VND. But, due to the negative effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, Dong Nai tourism only welcomed 1.9 million visitors in 2020, accommodation and tourism service revenue totaling 904 billion VND.
Evaluating state of tourism growth, Mr. Cao Tien Dung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Dong Nai has recently had many tourism development projects invested, but the progress of some projects has been slow such as river tourism projects, safari projects,.. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that localities cooperate with enterprises, departments, agencies, and divisions to advise the Provincial People's Committee to continue performing the task of developing tourism, speeding up projects as planned.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, said that since the implementation of Resolution 08 of the Politburo and Plan 118 of the Provincial Party Committee, Dong Nai tourism has achieved many significant achievements and development directions in accordance with the local potential. Localities, departments, and agencies must take corrective measures to solve the shortcomings and limitations in the promotion process, enabling companies and investors to access the project. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary requires tourism development for forest-related tourism projects to ensure the forest area, not use the forest area for other purposes, but on the basis of leasing forest environment to enterprises, the construction area in forest tourism projects must be ensured under regulations. In the coming time, agencies and departments need to have timely consultations and proposals to provincial leaders to consider and approve tourism development projects. Dong Nai determines that developing services and tourism will make a breakthrough to become a key economic sector. Mobilizing resources to promote tourism development, particularly the tourism connection infrastructure system to attract investors. For eco-tourism, must establish conditions for people to do tourism, raise income, and add value to the local tourism industry.
