Mr. Pham Van Sang, director of Dong Nai department of Science and Technology, receives CIO Award 2005

In the morning of May 29, 2005, in Ha Noi capital city, the awarding ceremony of CIO Award 2005 was solemnly held by the co-ordination between International Data Group (IDG) and computer enterprise institute under Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), which was live on VTV channel. This is the significant IT event of Indochina as for the first time the region officially recognises the work of IT experts in IT application and development. Among the ten leading CIOs (chief Information officer) of Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia is Mr. Pham Van Sang, director of Dong Nai department of Science and Technology.

Three countries in the Indochinese Peninsula, consisting of Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia, are new ASEAN members. In order not to left further behind in the information age, one of the most effective ways is to apply IT into all aspects of economy and society. To fulfill this task, we should enhance the understanding on the role and responsibilities of CIO in organizations and recognize their contributions to the application of IT into the economic development of the countries. Basing on the suggestion of IDG, National Committee of IT instruction had assigned VCCI to cooperate with IDG to select and bestow CIO wards to person who had excellent achievements on building and implementing IT projects, systems or initiatives which brought a lot benefits to their enterprises. There are two types of CIO awards. The first one is to award persons who work in governmental sectors and the second one for private sectors. Mr. Pham Van Sang has an honor to receive CIO awards because he has great contribution to the successful implementation of many IT projects and to improve the understanding on the importance of IT application into socioeconomic development in Dong Nai province. The awarding ceremony is annually held in each country of Indochinese region.
