On March 6, the provincial Vietnamese Women’s Union celebrated its 99th anniversary on the occasion of International Women’s Day and the 1969th anniversary of Hai Ba Trung‘s uprising in the cultural and sports complex. The comrades: Nguyen Thi Kim Lien – Member of the provincial Standing Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Bui Ngoc Thanh – Member of the provincial Standing Committee and Head of the provincial People Mobilization work, Huynh Van Toi – Member of the provincial Standing Committee and Head of the provincial Commission for Popularization and Education and Ao Van Thinh – Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee attended the anniversary.

It is known that over the past time, the provincial Women’s Union’s assisting women in doing business has achieved a lot of good results. 85,000 poor women have got loans of nearly VND 230 billion to do business at home. The number of poor households whose householders are women has received loans, accounting for 32% of the total poor ones across the province. Thanks to these loans, nearly 50% of poor households whose householders are women managed to eradicate poverty. The Union has helped more than 7,000 women find employment in local businesses. In addition, building a family of “Prosperity, Equality and Progress” has also been focused. The Union has appealed for donations, built 61 houses of love worth over VND 700 million to offer the poor members who have difficulties seeking for accommodation, awarded nearly 2,300 scholarships of nearly VND 1 billion to the poor students who have overcome difficulties and organized other activities: visiting government-funded families, Vietnamese heroes’ mothers and poor children on national holidays.
At the anniversary, Vietnamese Women’s Union of the province made a summary, presented awards in the writing contest, “Make a study of women’s role in the period to boost the country’s industrialization and modernization within Dong Nai province” and offered commemorative medals – “For Women’s Liberation” – to the individuals who have made a lot of contributions to the provincial women movement.

*The same day, the provincial Labor Union had a get-together with its female office-bearers and a special talk on “Law against domestic violence”. In addition to looking back on the tradition of Vietnamese women, the Labor Union‘s female office-bearers had an exchange and received a consultation on the knowledge related to law against domestic violence and how to bring up children and build a happy family. In an open exchange atmosphere, a lot of ideas on how to put law into life effectively were contributed.
* To welcome March 8, on March 4 and 5, Department of Science and Technology had a get-together with female office-bearers and an exchange and a talk with Master Hoang Yen – Lecturer of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, organized a cooking contest with the attendance of all the divisons in the Department. The first prize belonged to Scientific Management Division.
Besides, on March 5, Women’s Association of Long Thanh district had a get-together, an exchange and a special talk on – “Women in the period of Industrialization and Modernization”. On March 6, Women’s Association of Tan Phu district reminisced about historical traditions and had a talk on “Women’s Health”.
