This morning, April 20 2006, at the provincial Square, the action month on hygiene and food safety is officially launched. Participating at the launching ceremony are representatives of departments, agencies, districts, city, medical centers, hospitals and food processing and manufacturing enterprises.

The detailed targets of activities related to hygiene and food safety in 2006 is to control 100% food enterprises in the province, to have 75% of small-size food processing enterprises and 80% of canteens serving for over 100 persons to achieve standards on hygiene and food safety, to grant hygiene and food safety certificates to 65% of food vendors, to make 6 wards in Bien Hoa City and Long Thanh district become a typical model on hygiene and food safety, to reduce food poisoning cases and persons by 30% of the average of five period from 2001 to 2005.

The theme of action month on hygiene and food safety in this year is “food-pollution prevention”. The ceremony aims to mobilize people from all walks of life, authorities of all levels, food processing and manufacturing enterprises, etc to take part in activities to ensure the quality and safety of food for consumers. During the month, 3 inspection delegations established by the provincial People’s Committee will inspect the observation of hygiene and food safety regulations and standards in some places in districts, town and cities.
