Dong Nai honors 22 People’s Doctors and Excellent Doctors on the 55th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctor’s Day

On the morning of February 26, Dong Nai Health sector celebrated the 55th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctor’s Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2010) and honored People’s Doctors and Excellent Doctors. Mr. Le Hong Phuong – Standing Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien - Chairwoman of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee, Ms. Huynh Thi Nga - Vice chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee and Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai – Vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee attended the anniversary.

Doctor Tu Thanh Chuong is honored to be awarded the “ People’s Doctor’ title

    At the ceremony, Dong Nai health workers first listened to the letter President Ho Chi Minh wrote to health workers’ conference on February 27, 1955 and then another letter to officers and civil servants working in health sector by Dong Nai Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctor’s Day. The letter says: “Despite Vietnam’s socio-economic difficulties in general and Dong Nai’s in particular, our public health care has shown a lot of progress. Our health care network from the provincial to grassroots level has been constantly strengthened and developed. Increasingly, the medical facilities of medical aid stations in communes, wards and towns and of provincial, district and regional hospitals are being upgraded and standardized and are using modern technologies with the aim of improving the quality of medical check-ups and treatment. Communes and wards meeting national health care standards account for 95% and 80% of medical aid stations have doctors signing a long-term employment contract. Doctors’ professional skills are gradually improved and so are their spirit of service and moral attitude towards patients. Disease prevention and community health programs have gained more and more efficiency. Thanks to the efforts of officers, civil servants and all health workers who protect and care for public health, we can obtain these achievements.”

    On this occasion, Doctor Tu Thanh Chuong - Director of Dong Nai Department of Health was honored to receive the “People’s Doctor” title from the State President. Also, twenty one doctors were given the “Excellent Doctor” title by the President. At the ceremony, Dong Nai health sector awarded commemorative medals to 93 officers and health workers over many periods.

    Attending and addressing the ceremony, Vice chairwoman of Dong Nai People's Committee – Huynh Thi Nga extended her congratulations to all health workers, especially People’s Doctors and Excellent Doctors who were honored on the occasion of Vietnamese Doctor’s Day (February 27). In recent years, Dong Nai health workers have united, been unanimous and tried their best to complete health sector’s targets and taken good care of public health. “In the future, our health workers are to make more efforts and raise their spirit of service and moral attitude towards patients to deserve the ‘A good doctor is like an affectionate mother’ title,” emphasized Nga. “They also have to try to learn, elevate their level and better protect and care for public health,” added she.

    *To welcome to the 55th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctor’s Day, the summation ceremony to award prizes to winners in music performances organized by Dong Nai health sector took place at the hall of the cultural and sports complex on the morning of February 26. Particularly, among 27 contestants, the organization board awarded special prizes to two contestants with performance pieces competing in the regional music festival in Hochiminh city, and a first group-prize to Dong Nai General Hospital, a second prize to Dong Nai Children's Hospital and a third prize the Traditional Medicine Hospital. First, second and third prizes were also given to solo singers, groups of singers and dancers.
