Workshop |
According to the results given by the research group led by Dr. Ngo Quang Minh – Director of the Economics Institute and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, who undertook research on Dong Nai’s quality of economic growth in the 1999-to-2009 period, Dong Nai, a province in the southern key economic region, has considerable advantage for economic growth. Particularly, Dong Nai’s economic growth is relatively high compared with the 13-percent average of the country in which the industrial and construction sector is a main contributing factor; its economic transition is heading in a right direction; its investment capital grows quite rapidly and meets development needs; many of its economic sectors have a relatively high competitive capacity over that of the country and its indicators of social welfare and human development improve greatly.
However, studies reveal that there exist drawbacks, risks of unsteadiness and potential risk factors that curb Dong Nai’s economic growth. Despite its relatively high growth, Dong Nai’s services sector remains at a low productivity level; its businesses only achieve an average technology level that is lower than regional and international ones; its environment is severely damaged and its high-quality human resources have failed to meet requirements ...
Based on research results, remarks, evaluation, the research group put forward 10 proposals to improve Dong Nai’s quality of economic growth: pledge strong innovation, call for leadership’s dynamism and pioneerism, improve business environment, attempt to raise capital for investment and development, improve investment quality and efficiency, assist businesses in increasing their technological level and capacity of competition, make more scientific and technological contributions to growth, boost investment in services and modern industries, pay more attention to investment in education and human resources, take drastic measures to protect the environment and accelerate administrative reforms.
Addressing the workshop, Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh – Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee said that the workshop played a very important part in the province’s development and that research results, evaluation and forecasts given during the workshop formed a foundation for Dong Nai to find solutions to its sustainable growth.
