Truong Thi Mai addressed the conference

At the working session, the delegation learnt about labour related matters such as the coordination in settlement of labour disputes in Dong Nai IZs, labour relations inside and outside IZs, establishment and operation of trade unions in businesses, especially non-state ones, solutions for a harmonious and stable labour relationship in businesses and so on

In recent years, Dong Nai has founded an inter-sectoral team including the Provincial Trade Union, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Welfare, Industrial Zone Authority to inspect the implementation of labour laws and related matters in 140 businesses, especially ones that have a great number of employees and often have strikes and disputes happened. Every six months, Dong Nai organizes a meeting between the Provincial Trade Union, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Welfare, Industrial Zone Authority and businesses. It has also associated with Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean Business Association to popularize labour laws for labour users and labourers.

Addressing the meeting, Mai highly appreciated the attention which provincial leaders have paid to the negotiation and conciliation mechanism in businesses and their superior levels in which labour users, trade unions actively took part in and labour management agencies in localities actively gave support. Particularly in year-end months in 2008, although the economics meltdown exerted influence over the world, labourers and businesses in Dong Nai together shared difficulties to gradually stabilize the production, she said. She also highly valued the coordination between sectors in harmonizing labour relations, preventing disputes from happening, which otherwise often lead to strikes. She suggested Dong Nai should successfully build a negotiation and dialogue mechanism in businesses at all levels and their superior levels.
