Agriculture is estimated to grow by 4.54% compared to the same period

On October 14, Vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee – Ao Van Thinh had a meeting with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting was aimed at the implementation of Dong Nai’s Party Committee‘s Resolution no. 11-NQ/TU and tasks in 2009.

    According to the report by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there have been unanticipated changes in weather and an occurrence of epidemics in many places the past nine months of 2009 but agricultural production value is estimated to rise by 4.54% compared to the same period. These results are due to applying scientific and technological advancements to agriculture.

    However, the ,agricultural sector has encountered difficulties: an ineffective collaboration with concerned sectors and localities, high material prices, unstable markets for agricultural products, a slow construction progress of irrigation projects, ineffective operations of many cooperatives, a lack of business capital, market information and proficient managers and a slow implementation of planned programs...

    Addressing the meeting, Vice chairman of Dong Nai Peoples’ Committee – Ao Van Thinh stressed that the agricultural sector, departments, sectors and localities are required to cooperate closely to complete set tasks for sustainable development. Especially, the agricultural sector should avoid ineffective scattered investment and focus on strategic investment instead.
