According to a report from Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, just now, the province has 116 irrigation works in operation.
In particular, One-Member Limited Liability company for Irrigation Work Exploitation manages 48 works (including 9 water-storing lakes, 14 rising dams, 28 pumping stations, and 2 anti-salt water and anti-flood barriers), 68 other works assigned to localities such as People’s Committees of districts, Long Khanh town. Bien Hoa city manages 67 works including 4 water-storing lakes, 14 rising dams, 6 pumping stations, 8 waterways for source creation, 2 waterways for flood getting out and 2 works for anti-flood; Vinh Cuu Relics and Nature Reserve manages 1 water-storing lake.
116 works are used to serve watering 134,700 cubic meters of water to 8,346 hectares of paddy fields, over 6,261 hectares of crops, over 4,427 hectares of industrial plants, fruit trees for anti-salt, anti-flood.
According to planning, in 2010-2020 period, the whole country will invest 153 more irrigation works with expense estimated at VND2,402 billion. Thus, by 2020, the total area for irrigation, anti-flood, and water supply from irrigation works will ensure watering of 35,009 hectares of crops, 29,195 hectares for anti-salt and serve 183,800 cubic meters/per say and night.
