The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thong Nhat district: deploys the project entitled “Support enhancement of agricultural productivity for poor households in 2009”

On June 30, The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference of steering committee to deploy the project “Support enhancement of agricultural productivity for poor households in 2009”.

Garden chickens are chosen to raise significantly

Accordingly, the aim of the project is to raise agriculture productivity of poor agricultural households, including knowing how to make use of loan, apply growing and breeding technique, and raise income for each cultivated area, etc.

This is the project deployed in three years (2009-2011). Accordingly, Thong Nhat district has 5 most difficult communes chosen including Hung Loc, Bau Ham 2, Xa Lo 25, Xuan Thien, and Xuan Thanh. In 20o9, 2 communes, Bau Ham 2 and Xuan Thien will be piloted with 72 households chosen, focused on two main businesses such as 50 households with garden chicken and 22 households with rice and corn raising. 

When joining the project, households that raise animals and grow crops will be assisted with 100% breeding animals and seeds. Specifically, households raising chickens are supported with 80 chickens for each household; ones growing corns are supported with 3kgs for each mock-up; ones growing rice are supported with 24kgs/mock-up in accompany with 400-kg fertilizer for each mock-up. Moreover, households will be trained in techniques and management of diseases, etc. in animal husbandry and cultivation.

To employ the project to keep pace with the assigned rate of progress and its activities effectively, the steering committee assigned agricultural cadres in 2 communes of the project to deploy check quickly, vote publicly and democratically on poor households, aimed at bringing the project to the right subjects.
