Labor turnover is low

​After the long Tet holiday, most enterprises comes back to their operation on February6th. The labor turnover is expected to be low; at some companies, the rate of workers coming back to work reaches 92 – 98%. This is a positive signal to enterprises, especially which have received many orders at the beginning of the year and require a large quantity of workers to meet the production need.


Eager to work
In order to meet the schedule for the orders, this year, Taekwang Vina Company starts their operation earlier after Tet holiday, most of the employees go to work on time, reaching 99%. Mr. Dinh Sy Phuc, Chairman of the Company’s Trade Union shares that, most of the workers are eager to come back to the workplace. The company also send lucky money to those are present at work on the first day after holiday. Some workers who live far away registered to come back to work later.
On the morning of February 3rd, the employees of Pousung Company also start working at the company. According to Mr. Le Nhat Truong, Chairman of the company’s Trade Union, thanks to the policies and bonuses, the rate of employees coming back to work reaches 98% on the first day; some workers who live far away registered to come back a few days later, which doesn’t affect the production status of the company. The company also arranges transportation to work for workers to ensure their safety on the first day coming back to work. The working atmosphere is motivating, the workers are present on time and work with their proper responsibilities. The representatives of the Trade Union and the company come to the shop floors to send the best wishes and greetings to encourage the workers to work more efficiently and devotedly.

The exciting working atmosphere on the first day after Tet at Taekwang Vina company
As for enterprises affiliated to Phong Thai Corporation, workers have returned to their working routine since Feb 3rd. Mrs. Dang Thi Thom, Chairwoman of Dona Pacific Company’s Trade Union shares that, the company has 9,000 employees, on the first working day, 99% of the employees are present at the company which helps ensure stable production status. Mrs. Tran Xuan Khe Tu, Project Assistant General Manager of Phong Thai Corporation shares that, on the morning of Feb 4th, most of the employees have returned to the dormitory to get ready for their work. Some workers and their families who returned earlier had a new year party together at the dorm. The dorm is currently accommodating 600 workers, of whom 50% went back to their hometown on the holiday.
On Feb 2nd, at the progress meeting of the provincial Party Standing Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee gives directions: The Labor, War Invalids and Social Affair sector, the Authority of Industrial Zones and departments most work closely together to keep close pace of the progress and provide in-time aid to enterprises in difficulty, encourage workers to return to their companies to prevent the shortage of labor on the first days after holiday. As for the enterprises registering labor demand for quarter 1 of 2017 with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affair and the Authority of Industrial Zones, the Department and the Authority must prioritize to provide labor force from vocational colleges or labor switching from agriculture and service sector to industrial sector, ensuring the stable production status right from the beginning of 2017.
 Stable production status after Tet holiday
 
In order to ensure the fulfillment of production orders, most of enterprises have done lots of preparation right before Tet holiday. However, up to this moment, they don’t seem to face any difficulty in labor shortage. Some small enterprises operating in wood and plastic sector allowed workers to have a long holiday break and return to work on Feb 6th (the 10th of Lunar Calendar). On the morning of Feb 5th, at the districts where there many industrial zones such as Nhon Trach, Long Thanh, Vinh Cuu and Bien Hoa city, workers appear crowdedly at the bus stations and bus stops to get prepare for their work on the next morning. According to Mr. Le Duc Thuy, Chairman of Labor Federation of Trang Bom district, the district has 50,000 workers to stay at the district during the holiday break. On the morning of Feb 3rd, there are 150 enterprises starting their usual operation; the number of workers returning to their work reaches from 80 – 97%, ensuring the progress of fulfilling production orders received before the holiday. This result is achieved when enterprises pay more and more attention to the lives and welfares of the employees.
 
Mrs. Pham Thi Cuc, Vice Chairwoman of the Labor Federation of Vinh Cuu district, shares that during the Tet holiday 2017, officers of the Federation are excited to know that the majority of enterprises have offered pay raise and bonuses, supporting transportation for workers who wish to come back to their home town. As for foreign invested enterprises, the highest bonus for workers recorded is 50 million dong, some enterprises support 50% of the transportation fares for workers. The district’s Labor Federation tracks the numbers of workers who stay in the district during the holiday break to visit and give presents on the first days of new year. In the district, the Federation is concentrating to keeping track of the labor status of enterprises to contribute to the stable labor status and ensure the production for enterprises.
According to Mr. Cao Tien Sy, Director of the Authority of Industrial Zones, the labor status of big enterprises is stable. Some of them start operation on Feb 3rd such as: Taekwang Vina company , the factories of Phong Thai Corporation, Pousung Vina company, Pouchen Vietnam company, Hyosung Dong Nai company… the others start operation on the morning of Feb 6th. After a few days after the long holiday break, the Authority hasn’t received any reports on difficulties or shortage of labor.
