The southern key economic region is now facing overwhelming traffic. According to the analysis of economic experts, there should be breakthroughs in constructing traffic infrastructure to keep pace with the development. Therefore, the province has urged to attract investment in many routes.

National Road 51 with 8 lanes is still facing heavy traffic. Consequently, there should be investment in Bien Hoa – Vung Tau high way to ease the traffic congestion soon.
* Apparent results
Speaking about Long Khanh Industrial Zone (Long Khanh district), it was established in 2008 with 264ha of the total area. Due to many objective factors including inconvenient traffic system, the industrial zone has not been successfully attracting as many investors as expected. Other industrial zones located away from the heart city are having the same problem (DinhQuan, Tan Phu, Xuan Loc and DauGiay). These industrial zones are considered isolated, which causes many difficulties in transportation. The authorities of Long Khanh, DauGiay and DinhQuan industrial zones share that since 2011, investment attraction in these industrial zones has been far below expectation no matter how hard the infrastructure investors have been trying to attract more investors and in spite of incentives in terms of land lease policies. In the meantime, it is assumed that these industrial zones may be highly opposed to the risk of being abandoned in the context of the economy in general although each of them was significantly invested by the infrastructure investors.
In fact, after the upgrade of National Road 1, especially since the HCMC – Long Thanh – DauGiay highway was brought into operation, the traffic has been more convenient and the industrial zones in DauGiay and Long Khanh districts have attracted enough investors to fill the areas of land for lease. Mr. Le Van Hung, Chairman of The Board of Long Khanh Industrial Zone Joint Stock Company, shares that over the last 2 years, the number of businesses signing land lease contracts has increased sharply, the area of leased land has almost been filled with only 30 hectares left. The company has applied for expansion with 360 hectares of which the area belonging to Suoi Tre commune (Long Khanh district) is 178 hectares and Xuan Thien commune (Thong Nhat district) is 187 hectares.
* Attending to key projects
Evaluating the effectiveness of the newly completed traffic project, Mr Tran Van Vinh, Vice Chairman of the provincial Peoples’ Committees states that the improvement of the traffic system has greatly contributed to the economic development of the province in particular and the region in general. This is also the reason why there should be breakthroughs in traffic sector. The leader of the province also points out the traffic projects that should be cooperatively completed by the Department of Traffic and Transportation and partners such as DauGiay – PhanThiet highway, Bien Hoa – Vung Tau highway and Tan Van – NhonTrach ring road 3. These are the key routes to facilitate the transportation and traffic among the industrial zones in the province.
According to Mr. Trinh Tuan Liem, Director of The Department of Traffic and Transportation, in addition to new projects which are being invested, the currently outdated traffic systems also need upgrading to meet the needs of development. The Department also proposed the expansion project on National Road crossing the province to the Government and the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation. Dong Nai is the gateway to enter Hochiminh City and western provinces. Every day, the traffic on National Road 1 is extremely high and overwhelming.
The expansion project on National Road 1 is necessary because we cannot thoroughly rely on highways and the traffic on National Road 1 is heavy.
