Export of garment and textile industry to increase by 3.6% in January 2017
According to the Department of Statistic of Dong Nai province, the export turnover of local garment and textile enterprises reached 154.4 million USD in January 2017, increasing by 3.6% over the same period last year. Garment and textile is one of the key export industries of the province that have maintained high growth rate after many years, and for the first time, it has seen a negative growth. The reason is that the garment and textile industry has faced the severe competition with that in China, India and some ASEAN member countries. As perceived by many economic experts, in 2017, Vietnam’s garment and textile industry still faces the competition from other countries. Therefore, garment and textile enterprises must come up with plans to expand the market into free trade partners to enjoy tax incentives and increase their competitiveness. Besides that, enterprises must pay more attention to the domestic market to meet high demands which are now attracted by Chinese and other countries’ products.
