Domestic animal vaccination and breeding inspection to be intensified in 2009.

There are more than 7.8 million cattle and poultry in which the latter is of 5.5 million over the province at present. Thanks to a thorough vaccination  ( poultry injection attainted nearly 96%, protected rate was about 76%; cattle vaccination was more than 80%, protected rate was over 70%), the spread of bird flu , FMD (foot and mouth diseases), PRRS (Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome) did not occur. In such unpredictable weather condition as it has been recently, however, the Province's Board for Domestic Animal Protection requires all relevant Boards to intensify popularization to enhance public understanding about the problem, and quickly make suitable projects for preventing cattle and poultry diseases in line with each region's conditions. In the light of the plan, selling alive poultry at all markets in Bien Hoa city is strictly prohibited. In addition, controlling is frequently carried out and those who violate the policy - transferring & slaughtering cattle and poultry illegally, will be severely punished. According to this, an expenditure of about VND145 billion ( US$8,289,113) on prevention and protection of cattle and poultry diseases  will be spent in 2009.
