Agricultural production continues to grow

On the first nine months this year, output value of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture reached VND5,528 billion, up 5% against the same period last year, including VND5,070 billion of agriculture, up 4.8% against the same period last year; VND56.7 billion of forestry, up 8.5% against the same period last year.

  

 
About planted area, it is estimated to be 189,594 hectare of annual crops, equal to 98.5% against the same period last year (including 130,291 hectares of food crops and 17,579 hectares of cereals for tuber, 22,949 hectares of vegetables and beans) and 171,132 hectares of multi-year crops, ip 0.2% against the same period last year. By applying science and technology advances in cultivation, productivity and quality of cultivated crops have been enhanced. Specifically, rice yield reached 44.98 quintal/hectare, up 1.75; 56.1 quintal/hectare for corn, up 1.54%; 126.34 quintal/hectare for vegetables, up 1.22%; 18.82 quintal/hectare for pepper, up 1.03 against the same period last year, etc.   

The total number of pigs in the locality is over 1.1 millions pigs, up 13% against the same period last year; beeves are 100 thousand, up 12% against the same period last year; chicken are 6.4 million, up 20% against the same period last year. Estimated aquaculture production is 33,268 hectares, up 13 hectares compared with the same period last year. The output reaches 33,475 tons, up 2.9% against the same period last year.

“Agriculture production in the locality this year will reach the set target, which means a 4.5% increase compared with the same period last year. However, mechanism of crops and animals will have some changes due to socio-economic complex development”, says Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Pham Minh Dao. The task from now to the end of this year is that the industry will focus on fulfilling well set target, with more attention to the major plant and animal project, science and technology advance application in production and animal husbandry to raise productivity and quality, added he.
