Vesak Day 2011 Celebrated

On the morning of May 17 (or the 15th day in the 4th month of Chinese lunar calendar), Dong Nai Buddhism Church, the clergy, monks, nuns, and Buddhists celebrated Vesak Festival  solemnly to commemorate Shakyamuni Buddha’s birth.

At the festival, Venerable and Head of Vietnam Buddhist Church sent a message to the clergy, monks, nuns, and Buddhists to call for Buddhist Church and Buddhists to keep making contributions to the country’s development objectives.

Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Xuan Chien read the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee’s and Dong Nai Party Committee’s congratulation letter on the occasion of Vesak Festival.

Chien acknowledged and highly appreciated Dong Nai Buddhist Church’s contributions to poverty alleviation, helping needy countrymen, and natural disaster victims.

Also, Chien expressed his hope that Dong Nai Buddhist Church will grow stronger and stronger and continue to promote its tradition as a national protector, people’s guard, and suffer who associates Buddhism with life.
