The project aims to contribute to the prevention and progressive elimination of child labor and its worst forms in Vietnam and Dong Nai province. At the same time, it also contributes to improving the national and provincial database of child labor, and related policies. Moreover, the project will carry out pilot models in provinces through the direct action programs for child labor on education, vocational training, health care, psychology consultancy, and assisting child labor’s families to raise awareness and improve living standards, etc. According to incomplete statistics, Dong Nai province now has 749,191 children under the age of six. In the 2008-2009 academic year, 5,497 (1.29%) children had to quit school to earn their living mainly due to their difficult situations. In two districts of Dinh Quan and Vinh Cuu, poor children mainly earn their living by knitting, fishing and farming, etc.

The project deployed in Dong Nai province will create favorable conditions to fully carry out the rights of children that they can live equally and develop in a safe, friendly environment.
