Promptly assessing poor households based on new poverty line

It is one of contents of national anti-poverty program in Dong Nai province by end-2010. This content was noted at the meeting held by Dong Nai Standing Committee of Poverty Reduction under the Resolution 176/2010/ND-HDND of the provincial People’s Council dated on July 2.

          Reportedly, the provincial People’s Committee approved the project on surveying and identifying poor households based on new poverty standards. Accordingly, the poverty baseline should be VND1,000,000 person/month and VND800,000 person/month for urban and rural areas, respectively. Dong Nai province is estimated to have about 60,000 poor households.

          At the meeting, Dong Nai Standing Committee of Poverty Reduction advised the provincial People’s Committee on summing up the poverty reduction activities and identifying specific plans for the next 5 years (2011-2015); instructing the Standing Committee of Povery Reduction in districts to implement poverty reduction programs; and providing training courses for the employees who participate in poverty reduction to improve their capacity.
