Dong Nai Veterans Association Enhances Its Gratitude Activities

One of its highlighted results in the first half of 2011 is that levels of the Association have organized gratitude activities and called for its members to donate VND230 million (or US$11,076.5) for the building of nine houses of compassion, accounting for 45 percent according to annual plans, and for the renovations of four houses, says Dong Nai Veterans Association.

Besides, the Association solicited VND6.1 billion (or US$293,769) including VND26 million (or US$1,252.13) that was raised from its members in donations towards the building of 26 houses and the renovations of four houses.

A house of compassion is given to one of the Association’s members with difficulty in housing

Also, the Association’s members participated in local charity activities and donated VND89.4 million (or US$4,305.4) that was spent on making loans to the poor, building martyr’s cemeteries, and establishing funds of compassion.

The Association organized trips back to history for its 350 officers and members.

Simultaneously, the Association pays frequent visits to and offers gifts to its underpriviledged or sick members.

It gave 4,621 gifts worth VND844.2 million (or US$40,655.7) to its needy members last Lunar New Year.

The Association has set up a fund of nearly VND19 billion (or US$915,019).
