(News Portal – Dong Nai) - In 2024, the production situation of businesses in Dong Nai province has shown remarkable improvement. Some companies have received long-term orders, resulting in overtime work and increased income for the labor force after a challenging year of production.

Workers are excited about production at the enterprise

Positive and productive workers

Ms. Dinh Thu Hien, a worker at Saitex International Dong Nai (VN) Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa City), is busy with her work alongside her colleagues at the factory. According to Ms. Hien, while many people are unemployed, she and the workers in the company are fortunate to have plenty of overtime work, which has made everyone excited to work. After factoring in the overtime pay, Ms. Hien's monthly income exceeds 11 million VND. With regular work and reasonable expenses, she is able to save some money for unexpected circumstances.

According to Ms. Lai Thi Minh Thuy, an employee in the human resources department of Saitex International Dong Nai (VN) Co., Ltd., with the current number of orders, some workers will have to work overtime to meet production deadlines. The company is recruiting an additional 500 workers to help with the signed orders. "The company currently employs more than 3,000 workers. In addition to motivating the workers to be productive, the company also cares for them through various welfare policies and organizes annual sports activities to enhance their health and dynamism," Ms. Thuy said.

Shing Mark Enterprise Co., Ltd., a foreign-invested company specializing in furniture manufacturing, employs over 3,300 workers. Although the company faced difficulties in orders last year, it made efforts to ensure employment for the workers. Since the end of 2023 until now, the company has received new orders, which has greatly boosted the morale of the workers. Currently, the company is continuously recruiting more workers to meet the production demand, with a need for 1,000 workers, but only able to fulfill around 60% of that requirement.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Bon, workers who have migrated from their hometowns hope for stable employment to support their families. Therefore, when companies have abundant orders, workers are delighted because it means increased income. "If there is consistent work and overtime, the monthly income can reach nearly 10 million VND. Long-term workers can expect higher salaries," Mr. Bon shared.

Observations from various companies indicate that traditional orders have returned until the end of the second quarter, and some companies have orders until the end of 2024. As a result, workers have stable employment and regular overtime.

Hoping for a stable income

According to many workers, the monthly income for new employees, without overtime pay, is only around 5 million Vietnamese Dong per month (including salary and allowances). With this level of income, workers have to calculate expenses for rent, electricity, water, living fees, and other incidental expenses. If they have to support their families or provide for their children's education, it becomes extremely challenging to balance their expenditures. However, when they work overtime, their income increases to around 7-7.5 million Vietnamese Dong per month. With this income, workers can manage their lives away from their hometowns.

A survey conducted by the Provincial Confederation of Labor shows that the average income of workers in the province is currently around 9 million Vietnamese Dong per month. According to the same survey, workers state that without overtime, it is difficult to ensure a decent standard of living. Therefore, the majority of workers desire regular employment and overtime opportunities to accumulate savings, to spend in case of sickness or medical expenses, and to provide for their children's education.

Currently, many companies have started rehiring workers and launched extensive production campaigns to meet new orders. At Vietnam Precision Industrial Joint Stock Company (VPIC) in Trang Bom district, thousands of workers are busy with work due to an abundance of orders since the beginning of 2024. Miss Tran Thi Tuyet expressed her wish, saying, "My hope, as well as that of the workers in the company, is to have regular employment and increased income to improve our lives."

At Elite Long Thanh Company Limited (Long Thanh district), workers are also racing to meet production demands due to a high volume of orders. The company is recruiting approximately 500 general workers for sewing, cutting, ironing, and other positions, offering attractive incentives and income. According to a company representative, due to the difficulty in recruiting workers, the company will enhance its policies and benefits to encourage workers' loyalty, promote production competition, and improve product quality.

According to the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority, it is encouraging to see that companies in the province have stable production activities without labor disputes or unstable labor relations. Currently, there is an increasing demand for recruitment at the beginning of 2024, with approximately 30,000 positions available in industrial zones. The focus of recruitment is in industries that require a large workforce, such as textiles, footwear, electronics, and electricity. The Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority continues to monitor the labor situation, employment trends, and cooperate with relevant agencies to provide resource support for companies, ensuring smooth production in 2024.
