The inevitable development path for the province
At the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh stated that green growth is a global trend and the inevitable path of development for the world. To date, 137 countries around the world have committed to or are aiming for Net Zero emissions. At the 26th and 28th Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26 and COP28), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pledged to the world that Vietnam will strive for Net Zero by 2050.
In order to implement the government's commitments and strive for sustainable and green development, Dong Nai has formulated and issued a Carbon Reduction Plan for the province until 2030, with a vision towards 2050. Along with that, the province has also been directed to pursue sustainable development and green growth since the 10th Provincial Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term, the 11th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, and the Provincial Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.
During the conference, the Provincial People's Committee announced Decision No. 385/QD-UBND dated February 19, 2024, approving the Carbon Reduction Plan until 2030, with a vision towards 2050, for Dong Nai province.
In addition, experts, scientists, and businesses presented nine related topics, including carbon accounting and reduction, energy conservation, solar energy development, carbon credits, and green finance. Local businesses also shared their experiences in emission reduction and transitioning towards green production and circular economy.

Unified thinking, awareness, and action towards Net Zero
Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Phi stated that in order to fulfill the government's commitments and the province's goals, the Provincial People's Committee recently issued the Carbon Reduction Plan for Dong Nai province until 2030, with a vision towards 2050, with four specific targets: a 20% reduction during the 2025-2030 period, a 45% reduction during the 2030-2035 period, carbon neutrality during the 2035-2045 period, and zero greenhouse gas emissions during the 2045-2050 period. Seven priority sectors for implementation include energy, industry, transportation, agriculture, forestry and land use, construction and materials, and urban areas.
Following this conference, departments, agencies, and localities are required to develop specific plans to implement the Carbon Reduction Plan for the province until 2030, with a vision towards 2050. Provincial leaders call on all people and businesses, both domestic and international, to unite and be determined to achieve the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
In his closing remarks at the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh once again affirmed that green growth is the inevitable path of development. The topics presented by domestic and international experts and businesses at the conference provide valuable knowledge and experience for the province in implementing the Carbon Reduction Plan, contributing to the effective implementation of the Government's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on climate change, and Vietnam's commitments to the international community.
According to Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, to achieve the Net Zero target, there must be changes and a unified approach in terms of thinking, awareness, and action, not only in production activities, lifestyles, and consumption but also in planning, development strategies, and quantifying green conversion solutions based on scientific and technological foundations and innovation.
It is necessary to study and establish scientific criteria for classifying green projects that are in line with international standards as a basis for the province to select green investment projects. Resources from both domestic and international sources should be mobilized to realize green growth objectives.
