Typical Science and Technology intellectuals

Since 2015, the whole country has had 452 individuals honored with typical Science and Technology Intellectuals. They are intellectuals working in institutes, centers, research institutions, universities, businesses or agencies of local industries and fields. In 2022, Dong Nai Province has 1 honored individual. That is MSc.Nguyen Van Liet, Vice President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the province, former Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

Paying attention to developing young talents

MSc.Nguyen Van Liet was born in 1957 in Dong Nai, professional qualification is electrical engineer, Master of Business Administration. During 15 years of working in the science and technology industry of the province, from the position of Head of Division to Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology, MSc. Nguyen Van Liet has made many contributions to science and technology activities.

 

He has transferred many technological advances to farmers; transfer the application of information technology in management and administration in several localities in the province. In addition, he also participated in reviewing and implementing a number of highly applicable topics in the province.

 

After retirement, MSc. Nguyen Van Liet was trusted to be elected to the Executive Board of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the province (the Union of Associations) term IV, V with the title of Vice President of the Union of Provinces. In this position, every year, he continues to participate in propaganda activities, disseminating scientific and technological knowledge to tens of thousands of students; propagate and launch the movement of creative research and participate in critical consulting activities on a number of key topics and projects of Dong Nai Province.

 

He is also the person who directly monitors and directs the implementation of the Youth and Children's Creative Contest in Dong Nai Province since 2016; Technical Innovation Contest from 2021. At the same time, participating in the review of topics for the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Contest; participate in reviewing the annual "Farmer's Scientists" nominations and selecting solutions that won national prizes to be published in the "Innovation Yellow Book".

In 2011, MSc.Nguyen Van Liet was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister. In 2013, he was awarded the 3rd class Labor Medal. During his work, he received many certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee.

Efforts to gather science and technology intellectuals

MSc.Nguyen Van Liet shared, what he is most interested in when participating in the direction and implementation of the Youth and Children's Creative Contest in Dong Nai Province and the Technical Innovation Contest in Dong Nai Province is the discovery and supporting many pupils, students, lecturers, people with passion for scientific research.

 

After 4 times of organization, Dong Nai Technical Innovation Contest has received 319 contest solutions in the fields of information technology, electronics, telecommunications; mechanical engineering, automation, construction and transportation; materials, chemicals, energy; agriculture, forestry and fishery, natural resources and environment; pharmacy; Education and Training. The organizers awarded 61 prizes to the winners. Thereby, promoting the movement of emulation of learning and creative work in schools, arousing the potential and promoting creative thinking of all classes of people, improving the quality of products, contributing to the construction of Dong Nai Province towards industrialization and modernization.

 

Meanwhile, the Youth and Children's Innovation Contest is really a useful playground in the field of science and technology for students. They came up with ideas, researched and brought them to life. There are students from disadvantaged families but still actively pursuing their passion for scientific research.

 

The number of solutions submitted for the competition increased year by year, from 69 solutions in 2016 to more than 1,300 solutions in 2021, indicating the attractiveness of the contest to pupils and students. Many solutions in the contest are highly applicable such as: Tools to split tapioca stalks into sticks; Electronic Physical model of Vietnam Bac campaign - Autumn-Winter 1947; Machines to support clam harvesting; Remote control lifebuoy.

 

From the locality ranked 20th in the list of provinces and cities with solutions to win high prizes at the national tournament in 2016, by 2020, Dong Nai has risen to 3rd place and has the solution to win the national first prize. The province was recommended to the World Intellectual Property Organization for consideration and award and was selected to compete in the International Exhibition of Young Innovators.

 

In order to make the contests and competitions to be more effective in the coming time, MSc.Nguyen Van Liet said, the Union will digitize the winning solutions, build a database and contest to put on the Association's website, making it easy to look up, avoiding the duplicate initiatives.

 

As a member of the Union's Standing Committee, what makes MSc.Nguyen Van Liet the most concerned now is the gathering of intellectuals at home; connect professional associations and universities to be able to perform tasks related to science and technology assigned by the province.

 

He said that recently, the Department of Science and Technology has announced several key areas as well as key projects that need the participation of a team of science and technology intellectuals. The Union will call on all member associations to base themselves on their own internal resources or to cooperate with each other to carry out scientific research projects to improve capacity and increase income for members.
