On June 14, Mr. Le Van Thanh, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Government Steering Committee to implement the Long Thanh International Airport Project (Long Thanh Airport) chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Vu The Phiet, General Director of Airports Corporation of
Vietnam (ACV) said, after more than 4 months of construction of water leveling
and drainage and the end of 50 days of launching emulation on the Construction
site, Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1 has positive changes despite the erratic
weather conditions. Contractors have maintained more than 1,000 construction
equipment and nearly 1,500 workers on site.
Completed leveling of the entire station core area in May 2022, one month earlier than scheduled. By June 12, 2022, the total volume of excavated and filled soil reached 11.5 million m3.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People's
Committee said that Dong Nai has basically completed the handover of 1,810
hectares of priority area in phase 1. The reserve land area of 722 hectares is only 8 hectares. Phase 2 area is only
26 ha. The remaining area is expected to be completed in June this year. The
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also suggested that the investor
soon build the rest of the airport boundary fence to avoid re-encroachment.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises highly appreciated ACV's efforts, suggesting that it is necessary to develop a detailed schedule of each bidding package as soon as possible, especially the disbursement progress.
Regarding the approval of the design of the passenger terminal, the Minister of Transport proposed to establish an interdisciplinary team including representatives of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction together with consultants to discuss directly and promptly solve the problem; closely follow the roadmap to complete the construction by the end of 2024 and test operation in early 2025.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh highly appreciated the efforts of ministries, branches and Dong Nai Province over the past time, the project implementation results have had many positive changes. The ground clearance work has moved, specifically, 200 hectares of land has been handed over to the project.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out that the work has not met the requirements, including site clearance and excavation and leveling. The Deputy Prime Minister requested to continue deploying in 3 shifts; closely follow the progress of Gantt chart in construction items. Especially, closely monitor the quality of works, labor safety, ensure compliance with regulations, standards and legal regulations. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: “There must be a construction plan that adapts to the rainy season, absolutely no stopping or interruption of construction on the construction site. Report the monthly progress of the package of leveling and drilling of bored piles, efforts should be made to complete the leveling of 110 million m3 in 15 months. If the contractor lacks, it will be supplemented; if it is slow, it will be replaced immediately".

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh asked the leaders of the Ministry of
Transport to regularly visit the site to check the reality, to know exactly how
much construction volume has been achieved, how many cubic meters can be
leveled and how many piles can be completed.
As for the site clearance, the Deputy Prime Minister asked the Provincial People's Committee to complete it completely because the longer it takes, the more difficult the work becomes.
The Deputy Prime Minister also assigned the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province to urgently coordinate with relevant units to plan the deployment of traffic routes and railway lines connecting Long Thanh airport to localities. The Deputy Prime Minister also requested that in the next meeting, the Ministry of Transport must report the results of consulting and surveying the route from the airport to Ho Chi Minh City.
