Representatives of many supermarkets in the province said that packaged foods, cooking oil, monosodium glutamate, fish sauce, cosmetics, etc. are items that are affected by transportation costs and input materials and production costs, especially when fuel prices are high in recent times.

Currently, although the price of gasoline has decreased, it is still necessary to wait more time for the above-mentioned items to adjust the selling price because the supply contract is usually adjusted in about 30-40 days.

Mr. Hoang Vu (Long Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City) said that before the news that petrol and gas prices fell continuously, he expected the prices of goods and foodstuffs to decrease accordingly so that consumers would somewhat reduce costs. From the beginning of the year until now, the selling price of items "following" the price of gasoline is understandable because the cost of transportation through many stages of production and distribution to consumers will have to increase. “But now, the price of gasoline has decreased, but almost all businesses and units have increased the selling price of goods when gasoline has increased, but the resale price has not been reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to be fair with consumers when rebalancing prices, creating stable and long-term purchasing power when gasoline prices have "cooled down" – said Mr. Vu.

Before the price movements of essential goods and services remained high in recent years, the Government and the Price Management Steering Committee have implemented many solutions to stabilize the prices of goods and services; promptly submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee to adjust the reduction of environmental protection tax to stabilize and reduce the price of domestic petroleum products...
