Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development delivered speech at the conference

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Head of Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board said that the current coordination in eliminating dirty food and building clean food is still challenging. In fact, livestock production is still small, trading takes place in many spontaneous markets, causing difficulties for management. Most of the city's food, especially fresh products, comes from other provinces and cities, most of which is Dong Nai province, with a focus on pork, poultry, eggs, and vegetables.

In addition to products that have guaranteed quality according to regulations, there are still unregulated products that have entered the market in Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, in the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City will coordinate with Dong Nai province and other provinces and cities to tighten traceability with the ambition of applying information technology to food safety management. In the future, the traceability will aim to soon control the origin and quality of pork, and then to poultry and aquatic products. It is known that there are currently 14 provinces participating in the project of traceability from breeding to slaughter, bringing to the market in Ho Chi Minh City, including Dong Nai Province.

According to the leader of Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, with its geographical location and favorable natural conditions, Dong Nai Province has strengths in agricultural development in both the fields of animal husbandry, cultivation, and aquaculture. The province is supplying a huge amount of meat, poultry, eggs, fish and shrimp, vegetables, and fruits to consumers in Ho Chi Minh City. To ensure food quality, Dong Nai Province is coordinating with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities to trace the origin and certify products participating in the safe food supply chain. However, products with VietGAP, GAP and equivalent certifications consumed in Ho Chi Minh City have not had any difference in price. At the same time, the consumption of products faces many difficulties with the traceability.
