Early completion for Sustainable Forest Management Plant

At present, Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve (hereinafter referred to as the Reserve) has a total natural area under its management and protection of about 100,000 hectares. In particular, forestry land in the core area accounts for more than 67 thousand hectares, Tri An lake more than 32.5 thousand hectares… In 2019 and the first 2 months of 2020, it closely monitors forest areas, forestry land, Tri An inland wetland and residents in the forest estate.

According to the Reserve, for forest development projects, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management is integrated into socio-economic development planning, ecotourism development in association with forest protection,… can be implemented in accordance with the process and regulations, it should be based on the sustainable forest management plan for the 2021-2030 period, thereby creating a unified process for developing projects related to the Reserve.

 

“Guidance” for many related projects

 

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hao, Deputy Director of the Reserve shared, many projects related to the Reserve are still “waiting” or need consistency in forest development and management planning. For example, the project to develop tourism in the Reserve until 2030 is currently still waiting for the People's Committee to approve and accept the policies of some related projects such as: Safari Park, the project of the Southeast National Park for conservation and development of medicinal plants, Investment project on buffer zone of Nature Reserve, plan of afforestation and rehabilitation in the period of 2020-2025...

 

 

Representatives of many related departments and agencies and People's Committee of Vinh Cuu district said that in order to implement the above-mentioned projects and projects, the Reserve should first develop a sustainable forest management plan for the 2021- 2030 is in accordance with regulations and procedures.

 

Mr. Tran Vu Hoai Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, said that projects on Safari Park, Dong Nai aviation sports park, etc., should be researched, appraised, assessed impacts from the environment… from related departments and branches, as well as need to be in the overall planning, in accordance with the sustainable management and protection plans of the Reserve.

 

Mr. Le Van Goi, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized that many projects of the Reserve want to be approved and accepted the investment policy should be based on the sustainable forest management plan for the 2021-2030 period.

 

This is the foundation and guideline for implementing forest land planning, biodiversity management and protection, forest fire prevention and fighting plans, etc. In the coming time, the Department will coordinate with the Reserve to expeditiously complete and evaluate the sustainable forest management plan for the period 2021-2030 of the Reserve.

 

Integrating forest protection with socio-economic development goals

 

Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Vo Van Chanh asked the Reserve to continue promoting the forest management and protection in accordance with the orientations and key tasks in 2020. In particular, in 2020, the unit needs to coordinate with relevant departments and sectors, especially the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to complete the sustainable forest management plan in the Reserve in the period of 2021-2030 in accordance with regulations, procedures, etc. Pursuant thereto, review relevant projects and schemes in accordance with the overall planning and sustainable development orientation of the Reserve.

 

Earlier, in October 2019, the provincial People's Committee issued a decision on establishing a Project Implementation Board which integrates natural resource management and biodiversity conservation goals into socio-economic development planning and management of biosphere reserves in Vietnam in Dong Nai.

 

The objective of the project is integrated management of natural resources and biodiversity conservation goals, which are effectively integrated into the socio-economic development plans of the project implementation localities.

 

The project will focus on the contents of integrating biodiversity development, conserving natural resources with socio-economic development, restoring war-affected habitats; investigate and supervise typical and rare animals and plants in the locality.  At the same time, it is necessary to implement solutions of sustainable economic development for people in the project area, developing tourism types that show the local identity associated with biodiversity conservation,…
