Dong Nai discharges sole COVID-19 patient - Patient 247

Web Portal - On April 24, Dong Nai Department of Health and Lung Hospital carried out discharge procedures for Patient 247 - the only got infected with COVID-19 in Dong Nai to date - after more than 2 weeks of treatment.

This patient is Mr. V.V.T. (28-year-old, temporarily residing in Ho Chi Minh City) who is working at Gia Dinh Shoe Co., Ltd (branch in Thanh Phu commune, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai) has close contact with Patient 124, a Brazilian man.

 

On March 24, after the Ministry of Health announced the 124th case, Mr. T. was sent to a isolation ward at the dormitory of Dong Nai University. On April 6, Mr. T. was founded positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus, so he was transferred to Dong Nai Lung Hospital for treatment.

 

On yesterday – April 23, Dong Nai Lung Hospital took a second test sample with negative result. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, patients who have 2 consecutive tests within 24 hours are negative, are eligible for discharge. After being discharged, Mr. T. asked to continue the quarantine at the dormitory of Dong Nai University for another 2 weeks.

 

Mr. T. said the reason for proactively asking for an extra 14-day isolation is to avoid unfortunate cases of being positive again after discharge, without affecting the community and family members. When receiving the decision, Mr. T. thanked the medical team, the doctors who treated and looked after him during the past time.

 

According to a report of Dong Nai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as of the evening of April 23, there are 36 cases under surveillance (including 12 health workers in the concentrated isolation area).
