After making a three-day survey in the communes: Phu Ly (Vinh Cuu district), Ta Lai (Tan Phu district), Phuoc Binh (Long Thanh district), the survey team of the Central Commission for People Mobilization Work led by Mr. Nguyen Van Phi – Deputy Head of Department of Ethnic Minority Affairs had a meeting with Dong Nai leadership and talked about the situation of ethnic groups and about ethnic minority affairs in the province on the afternoon of August 28. Mr. Bui Ngoc Thanh – Member of the provincial Standing Party Committee and Head of the provincial Commission for People Mobilization Work and Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien – Member of the provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee met and had a meeting with the team.
Currently, Dong Nai has 31 ethnic groups. Ethnic minority groups form approximately 8% of its population. In recent years, it has invested heavily in power systems, road links, schools, stations, public housing and the institutions of culture, education, vocational training and so on. Thanks to this investment, people’s material and spiritual life is increasingly improved. In addition, Dong Nai has taken its greater care of ethnic groups by building three ethnic villages for a sustainable development, two resettlement areas, 2,000 houses of compassion and two ethnic boarding schools at provincial level and cooperated with the Vocational Training School 8 (under the Ministry of Defence) in providing vocational training for ethnic minority youths, maintained political security and social order and safety in ethnic minority groups’ settlement areas and kept the political system working effectively.
At the working session, the survey team of the Central Commission for People Mobilization Work highly appreciated the efforts of Dong Nai province to implement the Party and State’s policies on ethnic minority affairs.
