66 years ago, the Liberation Propaganda Army Force – the fomer name of Vietnam People’s Army – was established according to President Ho Chi Minh’s guidelines in Tran Hung Dao forest in Chau Nguyen Binh, Cao Bang province, Vietnam on December 22, 1944.

After the French reoccupied Bien Hoa (October 24, 1945), due to the revolutionary task, under the leadership of the Party and local authorities, and thanks to the people’s love and protection, armed forces in Dong Nai were gradually formed.

Early 1946, all armed forces were unified into Battalion 20 led by Mr. Huynh Van Nghe.

At Cu Lao Vit meeting in May 1946, Den village in Tan Hoa commune, Tan Uyen district, Bien Hoa Party Committee convened a military meeting, deciding on unifying all armed forces.

Then, the name National Protection Union of Bien Hoa was born.

Then, War Zone was built and became Dong Nai then’s resistance base.

Over 64 years of fighting for the country and growing up, Dong Nai armed forces have continually developed and contributed greatly to the national struggle and liberation, making glorious victories to enrich Vietnam’s military arts.

Such typical victories as Gia Huynh, Trang Bom, Bao Chanh, Bau Ca with the peak of La Nga  on March 1, 1948, the offensive into the Great Long Binh Depot and Bien Hoa Airport contributed to making historic Spring 1975 victory.

Generations of soldiers at the get-together

In the new revolutionary period, Dong Nai Party organs and armed forces are required to master their two strategic tasks: Construct and Protect the country as follows:

+ Promote solidarity traditions and maintain training towards a strong and modern tendency. Particularly in 2010, Dong Nai Military Headquarters took an initiative to provide levels of Party committees and levels of authorities with advice on how to implement local military tasks and national defense effectively.

+ Create a potential strength and People’s national defense front associated with people's security.

+ Form a solid defense area.

+ Offer 320 classes to nearly 32,000 people who want to improve their knowledge of national defense and security.

+ Complete selection and military recruitment at three levels.

+ Continue forming regular units that are fully clean and strong.
