Delegates from Industry Ministry investigates the environment in Dongnai province

On October 2 2006, a delegation from Industry Ministry led by Mr. Le Minh Duc, Director of Research Institute of Industry strategy and policy, paid a working visit to Dongnai province as to investigate the environment in Dongnai and to propose policies to enhance environment. Vice chairperson of Dongnai People’s Committee Ao Van Thinh received the delegation and relevant agencies worked with the delegation.

In the course of industrialization and modernization, environment is becoming a pressing issue in many provinces. In 2005, Dongnai emits over 480.000 tons of solid waste into the environment, 5 times higher than that of 2001. Of which, 20,000 tons of solid waste were not collected and treated. Industrial zones in Dongnai give out about 60,000 cubic meter of waste water each day. Despite great efforts of departments and authorities at various levels to enhance the environment, environment pollution in Dongnai is still difficult to solve.

The delegation focuses on finding out the real situation on environmental protection in the field of industry, agriculture, transport, fishery, tourism…; studying the capacity of relevant agencies in protecting the environment. In addition, the delegation also wants to know about the difficulties of these agencies as to work out solutions for these issues.

On the following days, the delegation will have detail working session with relevant Departments such as: Resources and Environment, Science and Technology, Heath and Industry.
