Dongnai Youth Union launches traffic safety month

Motorcars propagandize the traffic safety month

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh, Secretary of Dongnai Youth Union, unveiled that in this traffic safety month the Youth Union and Associations at various levels focus on propagandizing and distributing documents on traffic regulations to their members as to help them comprehend and to obey the traffic regulations. The Youth Union and Associations at various levels will mobile their member to help the police patrols to keep the traffic in good order, particularly Bien Hoa City’s Youth Union and universities and colleges in Bien Hoa City mobilize their members and students to guard on major traffic control stations  in Bien Hoa City.

Addressing at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Diep, Director of the Department of Transport and Standing member of provincial committee for traffic safety reported that recently there have been positive changes in the traffic safe and order in Dongnai province. But the result is still limited. The number of traffic accidents is reduced, meanwhile the number of fatalities and injuries has increased (According to the statistic figures, in the first eight month of 2006, there are 461 traffic accidents, causing 451 people death and 256 people are injured. In comparison with the same period of last year, the number of accidents decreases by 14 accidents but the number of fatalities increases by 72 people and the number of injured people increases by 10 people. He suggested the Youth Union and Associations at various levels should keep on launching as well as increase propaganda activities to the public and their members to comprehend the traffic regulations; mobilize the youth to take part in the campaign to keep the traffic in good order and safe. He reminded that the youth should be exemplary people and the first to obey the traffic regulations.

After the meeting, the motorcar train marched on the main streets of Bien Hoa City to propagandize the traffic safety.

As part of the traffic safety month, from September 15 to September 20, at provincial Sport Complex, the Dongnai Youth Union in coordination with provincial committee for Traffic Safety, Hoa Lam-Kymco Motorcar Joint Stock Company and An Tiem Company launched “traffic safety and safe-driving instruction week”. Dongnai is the sixth province in the country to launch the “traffic safety and safe-driving training week” with many activities such as art performance on traffic safety; safe-driving introduction, consultancy and instruction.
