Vietnam’s traffic infrastructure to join the world’s integration

On January 04, the Ministry of Traffic and Transportation held a video conference to summarize 4 years of implementing Resolution 13-NQ/TW on building a synchronized traffic infrastructure to make Vietnam become an industrialized country towards modernization in 2020.​


Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that in the context of difficult economy and limited budget, the traffic and transportation sector has witnessed significant changes. In recent years, Vietnam’s traffic infrastructure has developed and made huge steps forward. In the coming time, the traffic and transportation sector must continue to overcome challenges, improve capacities and management efficiency to get prepared for the world’s integration. Besides, the traffic and transportation must take one step ahead, focusing on the quality of traffic projects to create favorable conditions for the travelling and commodity trading activities of the people and enterprises.
 

After 4 years of implementing Resolution 13-NQ/TW of the Party, the image of the traffic infrastructure of Vietnam has been drastically changed. Various major and modern projects have been put into exploitation such as: the national road extension project, Ho Chi Minh road crossing Tay Nguyen, Ho Chi Minh – Long Thanh – Dau Giay express way; Cai Mep – Thi Vai international gateway port…

 
Thanks to infrastructure construction projects, traffic congestion problem has been improved in urban areas; traffic accidents have been decreased in 3 criteria including the number of cases, the number of fatalities and injuries. For the first time in so many years, the number of traffic-related deaths have been decreased to below 9 thousand cases. At the same time, the investment in developing major traffic infrastructure has contributed to the proper restructuring of transportation field, the harmonious combination of transport modes, cost reduction, the improvement of the efficiency and quality of transportation service, and thereby has improved the competitiveness of the economy…
