Accordingly, from 2008 to 2012, products of Jew’s ear fungus, oyster mushroom, straw mushroom will be focused. Emphasis will be put on lingzhi and shiitake to use them as the source of supply of nutritious food and medicine. By 2012, the mushroom output should be doubled with 15,000 tons per year, getting revenue of VND450bil, 3-fold increase compared to 2007. From now to 2012, besides stable export markets like China, Japan, Russia and US, the biggest consumption market, products of Jew’s ear fungus should be exported to European countries such as Britain, France and Germany, Asean countries like Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, bringing the export value from 20% in 2007 to 40% in 2012.
According to the project, between 2008 and 2009, 16 hectares will be invested to establish mushroom biology research establishments, a centre for packaging and display of Judas’s ear fungus with an output of 6000 tons per year. 586 fungi production establishments will be developed, providing jobs for around 5000 people.
