Experience in practicing the power saving at Dong Nai Electricity.

Using energy-saving compact fluorescent light

With the characteristic of fast-grown industrial province, each year Dong Nai province has to raise its additional power charge from 18% to 20% and 1%/year raised in use for industry sector. Practicing the electricity saving but still ensure to provide adequate power for production and daily consumption become a considerable trouble with Dong Nai Electricity. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Company Director told, even in 2006, the company actively combined with a variety of relevant levels and sectors to communicate the electricity saving, instruct enterprises and population to consume power reasonably, economically and fight against overuse. So as to call for the consent from local production enterprises to execute the power saving, the company associated with Department of Industry and Trade to hold a workshop “Saving power in key industrial production” attended by 40 enterprises in the province. The topic about power saving was embedded in the company’s activities, which produced many significant effects on staffs and workers in our company. Even in working offices at every unit and company, natural light is now used up to reduce the number of lights during a day.

In particular, the company actively entered into the power-saving agreement with those customers who consumed a large amount of electric capacity. In 2008, the company managed to successfully deal with 146 customers with the consumption of more than 3 million kwh and 472 with the consumption of more than 500 kwh to save 2% power capacity as planned. Additionally, the company also worked with 34 customers to mobilize 70,4 Mw from stand-by generators at rush hours during daylight and evening. Both director and staffs enthusiastically communicate the electricity saving. Bien Hoa Electricity’s Union Branch has established communication groups for the power saving at market areas, crowded population places in the city,… As a consequence, there were 104.438 compact lights promoted and sold, and 200 sunlight hot water tanks installed. All of these attempts have brought about many significant results for Dong Nai Electricity. In 2008, 103,73 million kwh was saved and achieved 141,39% compared to the plan.    

For further outcomes in 2009, to ensure the saving target of 73,36 million kwh, Dong Nai Electricity will consult with those customers who owns Diezel standby generators to propose them to consume their own power at daylight and evening rush hours, to share the burden with the electricity department in guaranteeing the power supply for production and basic daily consumption among population. Meanwhile, they will continue to seek agreement with those main industrial enterprises who consumes more than 3 million kwh/year and registers 500 kwh of power capacity to engage the reduction of 2% power capacity over the same period last year. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Director affirmed, in 2009, Dong Nai Electricity will ensure the adequate power supply to meet the demand in economic and social growth, and population’s power consumption as well.
