The PPO warns that these rice diseases have spread complicatedly against the same period and that if there is not a drastic and overall control, it is very likely that rice crops will be badly damaged.
Facing this situation, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a directive on carrying out an action plan to control the diseases.
Accordingly, the Provincial Steering Committee for Plant and Animal Disease Control is responsible for collecting data of plant disease control for the first six months of 2008 and work out a plan for the last six months. It is also in charge of collaborating with relevant units to forecast and give warnings on circumstances with brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) involved and other diseases.
The Municipal Steering Committees for Plant and Animal Disease Control under their respective People's Committees’ direction shall analyze the past results to learn from experience and direct their inferior authorities at commune and ward levels to use their initiative to control the diseases on the spot.
Departments and sectors are responsible for collaborating with each other in giving directions, spreading information and providing finance for the localities having infected rice areas.
