In 2008 first half year, production value of Agriculture - forestry - fishery is estimated to reach VND2,860.5 billion, 40.8 percent of the plan, up 5.2 percent against the same period. Specifically, production value of agriculture is VND2.571, 9 billion, 38% of the plan, up 5.1%; that of forestry is VND47.2 billion, 63.4% of the plan, up 3.5% and that of fishery is VND241.4 billion, 51.9% of the plan, up 5.7%

Up to March 10, the total area of winter - spring crop is 36,851 hectares, reaching 99.9 percent of the plan, 2.8 percent higher than the same period. The total area of summer - autumn crop is 83,942 hectares, 97 percent of the plan, 94.7 percent higher than the same period. Thanks to the use of new seed varieties, protection against drought, application of pest control methods and use of suitable cultivating techniques, the productivity of the winter - spring crop is higher than the same period. The productivity of rice hits 53.96 quintals per hectare, and that of corn reaches 78.47 quintals per hectare

Concerning breeding, to April 2008, the whole province has had 1 million pigs (up 2.3%), 92,413 oxen and cows (up 7.5%), 4,860 buffaloes (down 11.7%) and nearly 6 million various kinds of poultry (up %). The reason why the numbers of pigs and poultry has increased is that the agriculture sector has gained control over the epidemic diseases, especially bird flu, blue ear disease and foot and mouth disease, leading to a stable market.
