On the morning of September 17, 2009, Department of Natural Resources and Environment held a conference to approve the report on introducing operating regulations of the Steering Committee on relocating pollution-prone manufacturers or service providers in Dong Nai. Simultaneously, plans to relocate pollution-prone manufacturers or service providers from urban and residential areas must be implemented. Vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee and Head of the Steering Committee –Dinh Quoc Thai attended and chaired the conference.

    The founding of the Steering Committee on “Relocating pollution-prone manufacturers and services providers from urban and residential areas”was approved of on May 4, 2009 by Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee – Vo Van Mot. The committee with 23 members is led by Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai –Vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee. Its function is to assist the Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee in providing instructions on how to relocate pollution-prone manufacturers and service providers from urban and residential areas in the province.

Working session

    The meeting heard the reports on implementing plans on “Relocating pollution-prone manufacturers and service providers from urban and residential areas in Dong Nai in 2009”. Plans will be implemented on September 20, 2009 as planned. Particularly, a specialist group has been formed. Its function is to cooperate with the People’s Committees of districts in taking a second look at the list of local pollution-prone manufacturers and those in residential areas, compiling a new list and reporting it to the Steering Committee. The specialist group will collaborate with the Departments, Sectors and Localities in making a detailed plan to relocate pollution-prone manufacturers and service providers in the province from urban and residential areas until late 2010. Vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee and Head of the Steering Committee – Dinh Quoc Thai said that a detailed plan would be implemented between November 20 and 25, 2009 and a list of relocated pollution-prone manufacturers in urban and residential areas would be announced. Concerned committees and sectors are supposed to raise their awareness of responsibility and assist relocated manufacturers by providing finance and construction land for them in order that they can continue their production and avoid polluting the environment.
