In the summer vacation of the 2010-2011 academic year, Dong Nai’s libraries from districts to communes focused on serving children in the province.

Summer poem recitation and story-telling contest encourages children to read books

Particularly, Dong Nai library released 135 lists of books with 548 materials that help Summer Steering Committee bring useful and informative books to children to serve their needs of learning and entertainment.

541 libraries, schools, reading rooms, and cultural post office points served children in summer 2011.

The libraries in the province, districts, communes, and towns were open regularly to quickly facilitate children’s borrowing books and newspapers. 10,000 issues of books and newspapers were alternated and circulated in summer holidays.

Specifically, the model of open libraries helped children gain a direct access to a large number of young readers in summer holidays. As a result, 209,452 lots of children read books and newspaper in summer 2011.
